Wapacheros

San Diego-based Wapacheros bring the vibrant sounds of 1970s Chicano rock and soul into the modern era with irresistible Latin and Cumbia rhythms. The result is a guitar-driven, soulful fusion that’s as timeless as it is danceable — a joyful celebration of culture, rhythm, and border-town spirit.
At the heart of the band is visionary guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter Ritchie Orduno, whose music crosses borders both literally and creatively. Raised in southeast San Diego and steeped in both the traditional sounds of his Mexican heritage and the soulful grooves of the modern era, Ritchie weaves these influences into the unique sonic landscape of Wapacheros.
A dynamic performer and accomplished guitarist, Ritchie’s style draws inspiration from Carlos Santana, Wes Montgomery, and Curtis Mayfield, blending virtuosity with warmth and groove. His rotating collective of musicians — the Wapacheros — bring colour and energy to every performance, fusing Latin, Chicano rock, soul, and jazz into a sound that’s instantly infectious.
The band’s festive new single, “Tijuana Christmas”, captures the spirit of the season with a sun-soaked Latin groove and a touch of Chicano soul. It will be released digitally on 5th December and physically on 12th December 2025 — offering a warm, rhythmic antidote to the winter chill.
Looking ahead, Wapacheros’ debut album will follow in Spring 2026 on Electric Blanket Records, with West Coast and UK tour dates planned.
